Ignitis Renewables, an international green energy company is developing the first offshore wind farm in the Baltic states, Curonian Nord, and organising educational initiatives in Lithuania’s coastal region. In Palanga, the company organised an educational event for preschool children on the beach. Kids from a Palanga kindergarten, Little Oak, had the opportunity to learn in a playful and practical way how offshore wind turbines work, how they are built and what benefits they provide.

During the activities, children built small wind turbine models, observed how they function and explored the basics of electricity generation at sea. The educational programme will continue across Lithuania’s coastal region. It will raise community awareness about offshore wind energy and the Curonian Nord project and inspire the younger generation to take an interest in engineering, technology and renewable energy.
